Alternating use of highlights and lowlights gives the piece depth, making the shapes pop for a three dimensional like effect. Choice of shape and colour creates fern-like shapes that remind me of an old-style plaster Acanthus wall relief that might be found in a medieval castle. Accents of gold give opulence and add warmth to the otherwise cool palette for a nice contrast to the black shadowing. Symmetry within the design makes an overall pleasing effect to the eye, and creates balance. Many tiny details for the eye to follow, should the viewer wish to study the piece more in depth. A very clever and intricate submission. Well done.
